More on Uploading Your Art

Dear Artists & Friends,

Thanks for all those artists for signing up for this newsletter, I hope you get plenty of useful knowledge you can use. If there is anything you want to know about drawing or sketching, please drop me a line.

Many of the images uploaded on this drawing site are of poor quality - not the drawings but the images (photos) taken of your drawing/s. They are shot in very poor light and therefore are almost completely black and your pencil drawing does not show up.

Take pictures of your drawings in sunlight or in a bright light and please crop them if you can. Use the free tool Gimp.com to crop and make your image bright so your drawing shows up well.

As a moderator, if the image is very dark and cannot be seen clearly, I will have to delete it.

Another point is to place you portraits facing upright, not lying on the side. Tell people when uploading, a little bit about yourself, what you do, how you like drawing, what you dislike about them. You will get far better response if you can say something about your drawing.

For those artists who get stuck, try drawing abstract shapes either free hand or take a pictures of anything and convert them to abstract shapes like an image of your unmade bed in the morning or take a pic of the kitchen, turn it upside down and sketch it. Or just randomly sketch like doodling but use more thought so the shapes look like nothing you've seen before.

I will be putting up a page next month on the art of abstract drawing, I have an idea you are going to like it.

Try the abstracts in different mediums, charcoal, brush and pen or pastels, this helps to increase your creative juices.

Have a great September of Drawing and Sketching. Let's see what you can do!

Cheers, Jon
