JAMES HUGHES CALLAHAN

JAMES HUGHES CALLAHAN

He was my great great grandfather. He came to Texas in 1835 and fought in the Texan Revolution against Mexico.

He narrowly escaped death at the Goliad Massacre. He became a Texas Ranger in the late 1830's and was later a Captain.

He led several expeditions against hostile Indians and bandits in defense of the Texas frontier settlers.

He led Callahan's Expedition into Mexico in 1855. There is no photograph or painting of him. The sketch is what I believe he looked like.
