Not like Monroe
by: Anonymous

She does not look very much like Monroe except for the pouting lips! The whole drawing seems to be a little "flat" but that may be due to the fact of poor lighting or the image being taken on a cell phone. I see this a lot with pics on this website - so if any of you guys are reading this, please take note! Good lighting with a good camera.

I've done a bit of dabbling in portraiture and it is a lot of fun and sometimes very tough on the sitter especially after an hour of being in one position. I get a few complaints but not many.

you asked for comments! I don't mean to be critical but constructive.

#1 The left eye is lower than the right eye, and smaller.
#2 Try to get more flesh tone and highlights. e.i. under the chin is a good place to start.

You have captured the expression just fine.
Don't be afraid to add some dark area, such as in the hair and other places that are not in the light. It is an important to get light right.

Keep up what you are doing, you are doing fine, just need a little more punch in the highlights.

I could use your criticism on my drawings. Please feel free to do so.

I have submitted two of my portraits
