Getting Your Ideas From Anything

There is one thing I have to be pretty blunt about; there are about 40% of artists on this list that upload their artwork but forget to put in their image/s.

It is really simple enough to load your images – just follow along with the steps i.e. click “browse” which will take you to your hard drive or desktop, select the image you want to load, then click upload.

It really is that simple. And please write a few lines about your artwork and yourself. It would be great if you can write a short bio about yourself. Bottom line here: if you do not load your artwork, if there are no images, it will go automatically into the trash can.

You can get ideas from almost anything, all you require is a digital camera (not a cell phone camera), photo-editing software of which you will find a few free ones on the internet -- and shoot images of just about anything!

Get trigger happy and don't worry about your composition. As you'll see below here, with your editing software and one or two filters, you can create marvelous effects.

The first image is of tree bark that was half rotten - but follow along down and see how various Photoshop filters change the look and feel of the image.

Notice the header image at the top? That's also using the filter on the SAME image of the tree!

These images are a progression of filters used in P/shop. I've not tried any of the "distortion" filters yet.

Next week I will draw a series of original cartoons created from old rags, gardening implements in the back yard, some pics of the rocks and archways I took when down in Moab recently.

You need never be short of ideas of things to draw if you use some of these methods which I'll show you how.

Stay tuned.
