Jewel of Muscat (a sailing vessel)

by Amila Abeywickrama
(Sri Lanka)

This is a wooden sailing vessel belonging to Oman and presently placed in one of the museums in Singapore.

Historical sources show that over a thousand years ago, sailors traveled the seas between Oman and China. To imitate that passage, the Jewel of Muscat sailing through ancient supply routes from Oman to India via Sri lanka; after that to singapore as final destination.

The Jewel of Muscat entered the port of Galle in late 2010. At that time I have completed this pencil drawing and awarded to captain Saleh Al Jabri as a goodwill gift.

Presently my drawing has been placed at the museum in Singapore. You can see the all informations and photos from (picture gallery). To complete this drawing, I used 2H, HB, 2B and 4B pencils only which took five hours.
