Hi, I'm Bhavna from Hong Kong. I have been sketching since I was young, I just graduated from University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

I love sketching portraits of my friends and family. Let me know what you this of these 2 sketches I have done!

Bhavna, I think you need to work on them a little more with your tones/values as they are in your originals. Also taking a photo in poor light does not give the viewer much to go on. If you have a photo imaging software, get more contrast with your lightest tones as you have in your photo - see the white teeth and black hair? That kind of contrast can give impact!

Keep at it, Best

You're a lot prettier than the drawing reflects.

I agree with Jon, Highlights are very important. You need to add dark tones and light area, such as teeth should be white, hair dark in areas where needed. Don't be afraid to add. Otherwise you have done a good job. Your tonal values in copying your work needs much improvement. a good copier and software program might help.

One more tip - don't show a line on the extremities, let the tone create it's own borders, if you know what I mean!
Keep practicing and good luck!

Thanks for your helpful comments Bob. Jon
